AFM® Filter Media
AFM® Activated Filter Media is a replacement for sand. It is made from recycled green and brown container glass.
During manufacturing of AFM® the activation process increases the negative electrical surface charge of AFM®, this acts like a magnet, positive and dipolar charged particles coming through the filter are attracted by the AFM® grains, thereby increasing filtration performance.
The filtration properties of AFM® therefore benefits from electrostatic filtration and is the reason why AFM® can filter to a lower level than sand.
The activated surface of AFM® is self-sterilizing which prevents bacteria mud-balling, coagulation and worm-hole channelling of unfiltered water through the filter bed. Activation increases the surface area 300 times. Similar to activated carbon, the surface nano-structure adsorbs pollutants from the water to produce crystal clear sparking water with no chlorine smell.
The benefits of AFM® reduces the biological risk from bacteria and parasites as well as the chemical risk from water and air just above the surface.
AFM® minimises the formation of harmful disinfection by-products (DBP’s) such as Trichloramines and THM’s and will save operating costs, the result is a safer pool for children, a healthier work place for staff.
in public pools and a greatly improved swimming experience for everyone. AFM® is successfully working in over 100‘000 private and public swimming pools worldwide.
OC-1 Filtration Media®
OC-1 filter media work in a different way to standard sand and glass media as it works through settlement and harnesses advances in pump technology and variable speed pumps/controllers.
The OC-1 filter media has benefits – by replacing existing sand and glass media with OC-1 it is possible to reduce the head loss in the filtration system.
OC-1 filters with a constant flow (regardless of debris entrapment) and significantly reduces energy costs whilst still filtering to the equivalent standard as it can be used with a smaller pump or a variable speed pump or controller.
OC-1 can be fitted to most types of commercial filters including GRP, Laminated and Steel filters with a small modifications to the filter internals.
Benefits
- Reduces energy consumption – OC-1 maintains constant flow rates, even when the media becomes dirty.
- No downtime is required for heating/salt chlorinators/heat pumps going out on low flow. The constant flow means pumps can be run at lower speeds, thus saving energy.
- Huge capacity for debris collection – OC-1 offers over 20 times the capacity of sand or glass.
- Reduced requirement for backwashing and a more efficient backwash - Reduces water consumption, chemical usage and heating.
- Lightweight - Can even be shipped inside a filter, easy to handle and quick and easy to install.
- Less Maintenance - lasts longer than standard sand, reduces pressure in the system, extending the life of equipment.
- Filters to International swimming pool standards.
- Recyclable at end of product life.
- Payback typically 12-18 months.
